Religious scholars declare their support for an investigation into a “foreign conspiracy”


ISLAMABAD: Renowned religious scholars met on Sunday with former Prime Minister of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, and gave him their full support for his “movement for the real independence of Pakistan”.

Academics, representing all major schools of thought and prominent religious figures and Mashaykh declared their full support for the PTI movement when meeting with Imran here.

Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Senator Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Ali Muhammad Khan also attended the meeting. Among the visitors were Sarwat Ejaz Qadri, Sahibazada Hamid Raza, Nasir Sherazi, Sahibzada Abul Khair Zubair, M Ajmal Qadri, Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, Maulana Shujaul Mulk, Ziaullah Shah Bokhari and Dr Ehsan Danish.

According to the PTI, the meeting expressed deep concern over the ousting of the democratically elected government as a result of the conspiracy. They announced their support for Imran’s request for a high-level judicial commission to investigate the plot and their support for the request for a public hearing. On this occasion, a resolution was also unanimously approved.

“Pakistan President Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as Prime Minister of Pakistan, has worked tirelessly for the protection of Islam from blasphemy worldwide. Imran Khan’s services are also extraordinary in preventing Islamophobia and promoting unity within the Muslim Ummah,” the resolution reads.
