New Delhi [India]Mar 24 (ANI): Senior Congress official Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Wednesday that today’s politics have changed a lot because nowadays people enter politics to earn money or get to know.
“A lot has changed in politics today, now politics is all about making money or getting famous,” Azad said at a conference commemorating the former’s 99th birthday. Union Railway Minister, the late Lalit Narayan Mishra.
“Back when Lalit Narayan Mishra was active in public life, politics was not about earning or earning money at all,” Azad said.
Expressing concern over the politics being conducted on matters of religion, Azad said: “I pray that more politicians like Mishra will come to the fore. This generation of leaders has never mocked any religion. They have kept religion on a personal level and it wasn’t like that they didn’t practice any religion, they were religious but at the same time secular.
Furthermore, Azad expressed concern about the deteriorating situation of the judiciary and the alleged delay in the appointment of judges.
“Our judicial system has deteriorated. Recruitment of judges is delayed. It’s not as if there is a shortage of lawyers but a shortage of judges in our judicial system,” Azad said.
Many leaders from across the party attended the event held in New Delhi to commemorate the late Congress leader Lalit Narayan Mishra on his 99th birthday.
Narayan Mishra served as Minister of Railways from 1973 to 1975. He was introduced to politics by Bihar’s first Chief Minister, Krishna Sinha, when he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. (ANI)
