Light Up Our Darkness, O Lord – Advent Quiet Morning – Episcopal News Service

All are invited to join the Sisters of St. Mary in Sewanee for their Hybrid Advent Day (in-person and online) on Saturday, December 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central Time.

Speaking of Advent, we might use words like journey, darkness, expectation, birth, humility, light, and incarnation. Ultimately, Advent encompasses all of these words because it focuses on our relationship with God and with each other. We journey with God through our own self-discovery and the coming of God in the flesh to lighten our darkness. During this quiet morning, we will explore some of the subtle aspects of these words as we can experience them in prayer, in Advent, and through our journey with God, both collectively and personally.

The quiet morning will be led by Sr. Madeleine Mary, CSM. She is Prioress of St. Mary’s Community, Southern Province, and holds an M.Div. from the School of Theology and a certificate in spiritual direction from the General Seminary. She has been a religious for 50 years, has been a spiritual director for more than thirty years. As prioress, she served as prioress and used her skills in writing, preaching, reflection, photography and video to help people explore the connections between faith, care for creation and Benedictine spirituality. .

The cost is $25, and attendees can learn more and register at
