Jewish Women’s Union Holds Tea for Domestic Workers at Jabulani Leisure Center

The Jewish Women’s Union of Johannesburg hosts a Domestic Workers Appreciation Tea at the Jabulani Leisure Centre.

Speaking at the center on October 27, union president Ingrid Koor said the union was happy to celebrate domestic workers.

“Today we celebrate domestic workers. We couldn’t do what we do without the women who run our homes and look after our children, you are all so precious to us and what you do for us does not go unnoticed.

A domestic worker, Theodorah Lisanyane said she was happy to be at the event.

“I am happy to be here today and to be recognized by the Union of Jewish Women. I also have a lot of friends here, so it’s also a good social event.

Koor added that it was part of the union’s mandate to make a difference in communities.

“It doesn’t matter what race or religion someone is, we’re here to help in any way we can. We believe in the enrichment of all the people of South Africa, and we have various programs to support this.

Another domestic worker, Agnes Gumbo, added that the event was a great opportunity to socialize with different domestic workers from the same community.
