Instagram Model settled into third as Royal Filly went for the top for a 27:27 first quarter. Una Madonna rode the pocket as the field mostly ran in single file at a 55.1 half . Andy McCarthy made his gesture with Instagram Model towards the far corner and moved forward to push Royal Filly to three quarters in 1:24.3.

Royal Filly folded to go home and Instagram Model took an extended lead entering the final eighth. Mambacita, the 4-5 favorite, moved from third down the middle of the course to secure second place by a diminishing length behind Instagram Model’s best-ever effort at 1:53. Una Madonna broke away from the pocket to take third place and Graceful Patty rallied for fourth place.

“It was perfect today,” said McCarthy, who acquired the wheel after Instagram Model regular driver Scott Zeron was injured in a recent racing accident. “After nine last week, it was really difficult; I didn’t want to abuse her last week. But I was happy with the place today and the way the fractions settled. We have to kind of hide it a bit and move it around when we need it. It was great.”

“I take no credit,” coach Annie Stoebe said after the race. “For the first time I was training her, I said to Lynn (Curry), ‘You know…she’s different.’ She’s been nothing but a professional since day one and she’s dedicated to doing her job.

Picking up her second win in three starts, Instagram Model has now banked $178,625 for owner R. Lynn Curry. Chapter Seven-Check Out girl Trixie brought in $10.40 to win.
