11 people caught display of triad symbol at funeral in viral video


MELAKA: Police arrested 11 people suspected of carrying a coffin draped with the symbol of secret society 04 during a funeral, as a recent viral video shows.

Melaka Police Chief Datuk Abdul Majid Mohd Ali said in separate raids that all suspects between the ages of 24 and 42 were apprehended at Ops Cantas Khas from July 8 until yesterday in the state.

However, he said, police are still looking for two people aged 37 and 25 to aid in the investigation after a video recorded outside a house in Durian Tunggal, Alor Gajah, went viral.

“Police received a report on the video on July 7, and the arrests were subsequently carried out by the Secret Societies, Gaming and Vices Division of the CID in Melaka.

“Two investigative documents were opened for the case under section 50 (3) and section 52 (3) of the Companies Act 1966, with the exception of compounds issued on all those involved under Disease Prevention and Control Regulation 17 (1) In infected local areas) Regulation 2021 for violating standard operating procedure (SOP), ”he said in a statement here today ‘hui.

Abdul Majid said police also seized several items of clothing worn by individuals while transporting the coffin as well as the cell phone of the individual who recorded the incident.

He said the police take any activity involving a secret society seriously and will take firm action against those involved.

“People have been advised not to involve elements of secret societies in religious, social or funeral activities which could threaten public safety and order,” he said.
